As an experiment I have processed two large mpg files with Ulead Movies Factory v1. The final set of dvd files totaled 7.1 GB. i then tried to process these files with DVD Shrink v2.3 and 3.1. In the case of v2.3 the program did nothing just sat there and did not process the file set in the analyzing step.
In the case of version 3.1 I got the following error: Invalid data in file VTS_01_1.VOB.
Is DVDShrink supposted to be able to shrink a Ulead set of DVD files?
Thanks,
plipton

Yes it will, its probably having a problem with the ifos created. If you can, try the files with dvd2one or some other 1click app.
.
You do know movie fact v.3 is out, might want to try that next time.

I have collected four episodes of Deadwood. Each episode is originally about 55 minutes. I have first converted to mpg about 3 GB each. Next I created four DVD file sets one for each episode. \the output was 740x480 DVD II. Next used DVDShrink to reduce the four so that the total was under ~9.5 GB when finished. I then reprocessed the four episodes with DVD Author so as to fit on one DVD-R single layer media. The setup was a set of files with four tracks one for each episode. I now have a set of files ready for burning with DVD Decrypter.
My question is what has happened to the final viewing quality of the shrinkage from 12 GB down to 4.3 GB.? I assume that the 90K frames from each episode are still there.
Thanks,

Dvdshrink is a transcoder not a encoder. You end up with the same product with less bits.

First on thanks for the answer to the previous question.
Now for the next one:
I am burning DVD's with Imagetool 1.1.5.
My burner is a Plextor 708A with firmware 1.07.
I am using Ritek 4x media G04.
My system is a P4 2.4 Ghz chip, 1 Gig 2700/333 memory and three hard drives:
c = maxtor 80 gig 133 UDNA primary on mb controller channel 1
d = hitachi 200 gig 100 UDMA primary on mb controller channel 2
e = western digital 120 gig 100 UDMA. secondary on mb controller channel 2.
Now for the question:
The log of the burning process follows:

No, that's almost 1x burn speed, 2x would be 32-36min.
