hi nuprules and welcome to the forum!

a large percentage of all commercial dvd's sold are in fact dual layer DVD's, and can be up to 8,300 Mb.
it is for this very reason that programs such as dvdshrink exist. essentially they compress your dual layered dvd to a file size that will fit on a single layered blank dvd+/-r.

i would highly recommend making your way to the doom9 guides section and doing a bit of reading:
doom9 guides section (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/guides.htm)
in particular i would suggest you start with the basics:
DVD basics (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvd-basics.htm)
and then move onto the dvd shrink guides:
DVD Shrink 3.1 guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm)

good luck and happy reading
