Erm... you forgot vorbis :scared:
It's the only one I have been using, for two years now, so I can't really say it's my favorite, because I didn't even try the others.

3.90.3 is the latest recommended lame version producing quality audio, see
recommended lame versions (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=4763&). if you mean lame 3.96 with that "3.98" then it's under testing to become new recommended version.
but actually getting into your poll (which could've been started as poll, ahem): for audio encoding i use nero's aac encoder at extreme/audiophile settings, for movies it's either original ac3 or ~100kbps vbr mp3.

Hello, :)
it's early it's true but...
First Manao, i' am sorry i forgottent it.
Secondly, Sycho thanks for the others, i think a good thinq for all opinions.
Twist3d, i approved of your argument about version Lame.
Nevertheless, i am very interesting to know your opinions about pure audio, not for audio movie.
Bye, i'm going to work ..
See you soon ;) ;)

I use Musepack and Flac for CD audio. And i use Ogg vorbis or orginal AC3 for video.

- Lame 3.96 preset standard for music
- Nero HE-AAC internet or streaming profile for 6 ch movie sound tracks
- Vorbis q2 to q4 for 2 ch tracks
- And sometimes when I really don’t have any other idea for wasting more space, I keep the AC3 track.

My goal is to get things work on a Darwin Straeming server.
-Music: 160 kbps, Stereo Lame, http.
-Movie: 320kbps, 6 ch Nero HE-AAC, RTPS.
or
-Movie: 96kbps, 2 ch Nero HE-AAC, RTPS.
Also keep the AC3 track as a backup and in case i messed up my mp4 encoding :)
