Hello,

The Xvid codec is working perfectly with my acquiring card DV PINNACLE STUDIO VERSION 8.12 whereas the codec H.264 brings trouble to me.
Even if, i desactivate the audio(wav format) this one does not really working.
What can i do to remedy?
If someone has a suggestion even a solution don't hesitate about it.

Thanks

what capture utility are you using, and what h.264 codec are you using

you probably shouldnt use h.264 for capturing anyway because it is a slow codec and because it is still early in its implementation

In fact, i have a DV camcorder JVC, and i sent datas from my sotfware Studio pinnacle 8.12.
Then, after combining the scene i can create a avi file ("CREATE FILM") whichever codec.

I am using this " CODEC_VSS_H264_10BETA ".
What's your opinion?

you should try outputing with hufyuv or something from your dv input, then recode it to h.264 using virtual dub.

if this doesnt work get the latest ffdshow build, it has a built in h.264 encoder that is about 20x faster than the vss one.

[edit] just make sure not to use the inter psub8x8 serch with cabac enabled as it will cause bugs in the ffdshow decoder.

you cuold also try using the mainconcept demo h.264 encoder, however it is also very slow.

Use another codec!!!
Why don't you try x264? It is very good at is current state! Download ffdshow from http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/ or if you don't like ffdshow, then try this http://www.geocities.com/justinclaybaby/x264.htm

If you are planning to decode it with the VSS decoder, change FourCC to VSSH instead of H264
