Hi everyone.
Im new to DVD backup, but after doing a few "just movie" dvds i decided to try to backup Zoolander, with all menus and extras intact, following the "Scenarist NT" Guide from doom9. Everything went fine (video loks great, audio is fine etc etc) but i think i may be doing something wrong with updating the IFOs maybe or perhaps in constructing the pgcs, titles etc in scenarist.

When i use a software dvd player to open my new dvd, it plays a couple of intro things (a logo and a "get it on dvd" featurette), and then just quits. On the normal dvd it goes straight to the menu after those 2 clips.

Ive tried also opening the menu vob, but from there the buttons dont work.

So, i decided to move the new ifos i had created (with ifoupdate) and put the original ifos (ripped directly from the dvd) in the directory and try again. It worked, but only kind of. It goes to the menu which is good, and the movie plays, but:
- The chapters and scene selections go to the wrong point in the film
- Some of the links to the extras dont work.

Obviously using the old ifos is not a good solution, but i thought i would just try to see if that could give me any hints as to what to do, but unfortunately not.

So, if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows a lot about this stuff, i would love to hear some suggestions and hopefully some solutions! :)

UPDATE: Ive tried opening the video_ts.ifo in ifoedit, and going to DVD play. At the point where my dvd player software crashes, it comes up with an error message saying "DVD Warning: An illegal navigation command was encountered". This gives me a bit moire stuff to muck around with, but if anyone knows specifically what this could be, please let me know!

Thanks

U must use 'ifoupdate' in order to update the new pointers in the old ifos that contain the navigation structure of the DVD.

Depending on the job that u had made on Scenarist and the scenario layout, there r various options on what u follow in ifoupdate.

I suggest to d/ld the application, go through its readme and report back. Once u have set everything up in Scenarist, updating the ifos is a piece of cake.
