Well after a run in with a deadly failure of a windows update, removing a big pile of associations including exe files (UGH).. I've recovered everything except a huge problem is mpeg-4 type files will not play what so ever, except audio. I'm clueless as to why and I've uninstalled/reinstalled ffdshow, tried setting xvid as the decoder, and even tried installing a codec pack at a longshot and still any player (not just MPC, the player I use) including wmp can't find the codecs. What would I do to fix this?
edit: oh, and video works if I just force ffdshow in the overrides section of MPC.. but is there anyway I can get it back to automatically using it in all players?
