View Full Version : DTS track reported as 2ch

I have a dvd that is reporting (in DOITF4U 1.4.7) a 768kbps DTS track as 2ch. It does rip a 6ch DTS file, the file size is 600mb over the 300 or so 448 5.1 track.
When I load the scenaid script up and I try changing the DTS from placeholder to data it won't let me, scenarist (2.7) gives me a warning (not an error) that it is a different bitrate (to what its expecting I'm assuming).
I've tried editing the scenaid.scp so that it reads 192kbps and also changing description to 6channel (i thought i could fool scenarist, is it just a naming convention?). DOITF4U actually reports it as 2ch and has that in its description.
The dvd is Stargate (the movie) directors cut, PAL version.
Any ideas? I really don't want to lose the DTS track.

'quick' fix is to do a little hand authoring. just import your audios yourself. scenarist comes with good instructions. also doom9's older doitfast4u guides (pre scenaid/reauthorist) explain authoring by hand
what dvd is it.. i'd like to look into the 'why' of it

Gah, you're right Tra, I thought I'd tried deleting and re-inserting, obviously not, worked like you said it would, this is the warnings I was getting...
Warning This DTS has different duration. [F:\\DOITF4U\VTS__04_P01-89-768K-[0ms]-ch2English.DTS]
Warning This DTS has different number of channel. [F:\\DOITF4U\VTS__04_P01-89-768K-[0ms]-ch2English.DTS]
Warning This DTS has different bitrate. [F:\\DOITF4U\VTS__04_P01-89-768K-[0ms]-ch2English.DTS]
This happened when I tried to change from placeholder to data.
This was just the start of my problems tho, it imported 22 dummy sub files instead of the 4 I had selected in DOITF4U, all were dummies. I had to get scenaid to write the script without subs and manually import, which worked fine as usual, however...
I hate it when they use the subs as buttons in still galleries, meant the navigation won't work, is this what you call BoV? Beyond me atm, shame as its part of a 500mb VTS so I really need to reduce it.
thanks for help Tra

there are quite a few tutorials on bov, jels new bov guide goes into great detail of the process.
hi chubmeister
from what i have read of your posts you appear to have an excellent grasp of the big 3 (and associated tools) and a high level of experience in manual authoring using scenarist. believe me, BOV is definitely not beyond you :D
as trahald suggested you can have a read of my guide but i would only use it as a general resource on how things work and how to get the button commands and recreate them in scenarist
in this particular instance i would recommend you have a good look at doom9's guide on menu authoring - Scenarist NT (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/scenarist.htm) - as though they are the same concept, menus can have multiple buttons/commands that require some additional processes.
i would also recommend trying a BOV title first (something easier than spiderman  ) to get a feel for the process as well
good luck and dont forget we are always around to lend a hand if you run into any problems
cheers

edit:/ and you may have to change the minimum time on the 'do not vobsub pgcs with minimum time x' option in DIF4U to '0' minutes to get the subpics for the stills

Wow, thanks Jel, very encouraging, you've thrown down the gauntlet now!
Just blown half the ink cartridge in the colour laserjet at work printing guides off :)
When I first started I only used DOITF4U and painfully forced myself to do manual bitrate calcs, manual CCE and manual scenarist. I can definately recommend doing this for any newcomers, the guides are excellent... the only thing that screwed up in my first project was at the ifoupdate stage, but that misinterpretation is well documented now.
The only dvd i own that is on the bov list is The Matrix - fun.
I do know about the '0' setting for the subs, have come across it before and I did have to ask to find out about it - thanks.
Will post if I run into problems - thanks again for encouraging (everyone) to get the best out of the big3.
Chubs
the matrix ?
never heard of it :D
hmmm... i was delaying buying this dvd, 'cause i was hoping they would release a wicked box set of all 3 movies ... but to be honest, i dont think i am all that interested in owning anything other thanthe first movie, so ....
i might buy a copy this weekend, and give it a spin, so if you want to give it a whirl and run into any dramas we can work it out (i am also in pal land - although r4/oz as apposed to the uk)
...or maybe i should find a discounted version of stargate and try it out .... hmmmm .... after much searching it doesnt appear to have even been released yet in australia :( sorry wont be able to help you with that title then ....
oh well, either way, good luck and keep us posted
rock on
