As Doom9 says in the news page
"NEC 2500a burner owners will rejoice: Apparently, the firmware of the upcoming 2510a (which basically adds DVD+R DL capabilities) has been modified to work with the 2500a, thus making this the first burner that can actually be upgraded to dual layer capabilities. Before you upgrade: be aware that the procedure will most likely void your warranty. You've been warned."

I have been all over looking for information on this and the firmware file - but to no avail. One of my regular suppliers says that the new Dual layer DVD discs and the new NEC 2510 will be out next month ( Burner for about £70 !!!) see below

"A Word on the Future

Some people have been looking to the future recently, and we've had a fair number of enquiries about the new dual layer DVD writers that you can presently pick up for 140.00 or more. The dual-layer media is currently impossible to buy but we're expecting first shipments of it in June. Also in June we have the NEC 2510 dual-layer writer due to land in our warehouse. The retail price will be about 70.00 so watch out for that one!"

Has anyone any information on this 2500 firmware update ??

Thanks

Link from Doom9's news is here (http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25531&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0), if someone missed it.
Two tests have been made - here (http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/tm.asp?m=66772&mpage=1&key=%F0%90%93%94) and here (http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/tm.asp?m=67402&mpage=1&key=𐝊).
And Herrie released new firmware version - here (http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25904).
That's all I can find so far.
