LCPM is 900mb while AC3 is only 300mb. I have to get rid of one of them, help me choose.

Video stays 100%

how was the 5.1 created? If it was just a upmix of the 2.0, trash it, and go for a 448kbps 2.0 AC3 track

I have no idea, it's the Pearl Jam - Live at the Garden.

But is the 2.0 LCPM better quality than the 5.1 AC3? Since it's about 3x more in space.

BUT...which one SOUNDS the best?? THAT should be the deciding factor. Don't take convenience over quality.

if you have a 2 speaker system always go for the pcm track

if you have a surround system and the surround of the disc sounds worth it go for ac3

The PCM track sounds 10x better on my DMB Central Park DVD. I have a 5-speaker system, but can't stand the muffled sound of AC3 with music.

Quality may vary between DVDs, I suppose.

The main difference is that PCM track is loseless, and AC-3 is lossy, which may be of a big importance to audiophiles. Of course, you need a good sound system to appreciate the difference. Older concert recordings often contain 2-channel PCM because it was the original soundtrack while 5.1 us an upmix. In this case, they already probably recorded the sound with intention of releasing it as 5.1.

Either way, choose whatever sounds best for you on your equipment.

Hello,

Of course the source is one thing; but musical equipment and connectors industry contribute to improve listening system.
