I recommend you copy this into notepad (so that you have a white background). Focus your eyes behind the image (relax the iris muscles or stare at the glare of the monitor). Personally I didn't know this could be done with ascii. So... what does it say?

For this kind of stuff check out:

Vision3D (http://www.vision3d.com/) (specifically have a look at the 3D Art Gallery in the "MORE! SEE TABLE OF CONTENTS!" section

and some more pictures

I got in notepad, but could get it with your original post. But by increasing the size you can (at least on my monitor (19" 1024x res.). I'll put it in the next post to get a lighter background.

That is pretty amazing. There are some weird artifacts in it that my eyes have trouble pinning down to the background or the foreground. For instance, a hook hanging off the top of the F, and a little bump on the top of the left side of the I made out of "@@".

FYI, for those that can't see it, it helps if you get pretty close to your screen.

So... what does it say?

Does it say "doom9"?

The "@@" that Pamel saw, I think is "oo". But I see the "oo in the middle, not the left.

for those that can...

do you notice that at first, when you just start noticing it is very blurly, then suddenly it becomes clear. And it looks like as if you are looking under clear water, kind of shimmering but still.

I've got a book somewhere full of the picture type ones!

I'll dig it out, and scan and post a couple. I wonder if they'll work too?

Cheers

What were those books called?

I got another tip. Look really close at a bunch of characters on one line. Then relax your eyes (essentially make the cross-eyed) and try to find two sets of matching symbols. Then move your head back when they focus together. You see a bunch of things jumping out on your peripheral vision, but its hard to see what it is.

Did anyone start to cross their eyes uncontrollably, after trying to see it?

I had a VHS video at one time too, but sadly this was borrowed and not returned years ago!

Ok. here's another one!

Now the tendency is to get too close to the image. What you should try and do is focus on the two dots at the top of the image until the look like three dots.

I've got loads more... Enjoy

EDIT: I forgot to mention. If you are short sighted try looking at the image without spectacles. Or better still print the image out!

Ahhhh....the dots. I never understood why 99% of stereograms are produced without the dots to learn to focus with. Most people can see then if they use the dots to see where to focus first. Thanks for the picture SeeMoreDigital. Although, this is probably more of an 'advanced' picture as it is complex and not a definitive object you could recognize.
