Hey guys i'm backing up my copy of attack of the clones (r2-pal) with dvd-rb. Due to RB not being able to handle multiangles, using dvd decrypter i set it to rip only angle 1, so hopefully it will be able to be re-encoded via RB.

Anyway to my question- looking in the main menu section (in either shrink or DVD-Remake) there are three different instances of the whole menu- (e.g. front screen with Play movie, Scene selection and lanaguage selection with separate- and different- full motion scene selections in each menu)

Each set of the 3 take a different theme from the film, but in terms of functionality are, to me, identical. Being a poncy lucas arts menu- each menu is around 200mb, so i'm thinking i'm gonna ditch 2 of them.

Using dvd remake I've removed 2 of the three menus and it seems to work fine with powerdvd, but i'm not sure if it'll cause probs in a standalone- what with rb taking the most part of a day to re-encode on my machine, i'd like to know if this will work before i get started.

Thanks guys

If I remebmer it right I've seen random comand on one of star wars disk. They set some register with random value from 1 to 3 and then go to one of three sets of menus based on this.

Bottomline: it is not very safe to just hide two other sets (even if usually it go to the third). One day it may go to what you have hidden. You'd rather change that random command to the id (1, 2, 3...) of the menu you left on the disk.

Thanks Dimad- would that be something that could be edited in say ifo edit?
Thing is i have no idea where to look for this random number generator- it makes sense though although from when i've i've watched the original on my standalone dvd, i tend to find that the first menu is the one i've come across most of (if not all) the time- (its not aprticularly great filem IMHO so can't say i've actually taken played the dvd more than a handful of times)- i suppose i could do it and if it it doesn't load first time up in the player- keep ejecting and starting the disc till the the only menu remaining gets picked
