Hi,
I was trying to convert AVI to SVCD using TMPGEnc and the message below i'm getting.
This is the exact error message i'm getting.
File D:\Program Files\Ares Lite Edition\My Shared Folder\Movie- Tmd the rules of attraction eso ts 1 of 2.avi can not open, or unsupported.
How can i fix that?? What do i need to do?? Is there anyone that could help me?? Thanx everyone..

sometimes apps have problems with long folder and/or
file names. Rename the avi to abc.avi (or something similarly
simple) and move it to the root folder of your d:\ drive.
So now when you access it thru tmpgenc, it would be d:\abc.avi

Does this avi play OK in media player?
One thing you can try in tmpgenc in environment/vfapi plugin and remove the tick from avi2 opendml.
Close tmpg and reopen. This will cause tmpg to use dshow for accessing the file.
If it's still not working, open the avi in virtualdub,
select file/file info and place all the information in
this post.

You only told us that it is an avi, what is the codec?
TMPGEnc sometimes has trouble with divx/xvid. To solve this, install ffdshow and use that instead of the divx/xvid codec. If you are still having problems all you have to do is frameserve using AviSynth or VirtualDub.
