WMF -> ASF -> Xvid_AVI worked hmm

Heya guys, somewhere else i read
i can just rename WMF into an ASF file and then get tmpgenc to encode it to m1v

worked fine, VDub liked it also, and the resulting clip was quite ok


Why is it possible to rename wmf to asf and still get tmpgenc to work with it?

Sounds like you're talking about WMV, not WMF. IIRC, ASF was created long ago as a container for Microsoft's early MPEG-4 codecs. Later, the extension was changed to WMV with the introduction of the Windows Media format. The internal structure of ASF and WMV are identical.
