Hi all, last year i startted making well building my first pc i tougth it would be the fastets thing with out whels... but then again the 1k dint get me what i wanted. i ended up with a 500gb 7200rpm 2.6ghz p4 256 FBS or it was 512 i cant rember the thing is... my pc is no so grate. now i finally got a jobe ( almost 17 ) and i'm making about 120 a week wich is not so bad for me ><. now i want to make a computer and a fast one. So i came here to see if any of you can give me your opinions and back them up with faqs.

first what procesor intel or amd? ( im looking for a proessor that is less than 400 dollars, you know not the newest ones. )

2 what mother board? ( a double cpu motherboard would be nice that must make my encoding faster rigth?, i want one less than 400 dollars )

then what dvd rw?, i have a hi-val ( yea the cheap ass burner >< ) burns at 4x -+ but only reads at 4x ( the box says 12 damn it ><) now that made me mad ( can some one explain why it only reads at 4x? )

then what dvd rom ( maybe is beter to have a dvd rom to read will it make it faster than 4x? i hope so ><)

and thats it. o maybe you can recomen a good video card that encondes fast? or atleast kiks ass when playing games ( under 600 dollars )

the whole computer must be under 3k and should encod faster than my p4 2.6 much faster >< or atleast %20 faster, and it MUST read faster atleast 8x. well i hope any off you can take a minute or tow and tell me what should i do, i tougth i knew about computers ( i fix them, wel use to any how ) but amd is making me crazy people say an amd 3500+ is faster and beter than a p4 3.2 when the amd is only 2.2, i guess ghz are not everithing. thank you so much for your opinions they are priceless :)!!!

happy mothers day to all the womans out there that have or will have kids!! ( and the ones that forgot to take the pill or put the pach on  haha im joking... thats a mean thing to say now that i think about it :p )

PD: my english bites but if your put it in microsoft word i think you will get some thing that you can understand :P thx again

Mothers day was last weekend. Wrong forum, btw.

I am not in the market shopping for a new pc, just a few hints: you would want sth. like a 50% speed increase, anything below that is not worth spending any money imo.

A video card (you are talking about your graphics adapter, correct?) won't speed up encoding (maybe the preview could be accelerated).

I have a Pioneer A106 and i had to flash it to unlock the full read speed of DVD. I guess it read slowly to disencourage DVD copying. Maybe your all DVD burners have this kind of limiting nowadays.

Rather than explain everything, check out Extreme Tech:

http://www.extremetech.com/

They have a whole bunch of info on ALL computer components and have sample computers with all the specs that they built themselves. I built my computer reading their guides and this is the fastest PC I've ever had.

the vid cards that accelerate the encoding, are ATI's X800, and NVidia's 6800 series, but they both cost upward of $400 USD (you won't find that price on them either, it's higher by at least $50) and that's for the base models, the higher end is way more, I don't think $120 a week will get you that.

You can get a Radeon 9800XT for the price of a 9800Pro 256MB !!!

Just buy a 9800Pro (256MB) model that has the same chip/ram as the 9800XT... ;)

You can get a Sapphire 9800Pro (300€) for this (100€ cheaper than the XT) !!!

Then buy some better cooling (30€) and run the card @ 9800XT specs... :D

Read this (http://www.rojakpot.com/(kjk2nnn5a4jj01eee3lshn55)/default.aspx?location=3&var1=92&var2=0) stuff to get more info !!!
