cce P4HT cpu usage...

hey ho

i use a P4HT 3Ghz with a Msi 865PE and 2x256 mb Samsung (400Mhz).
the problem is that cce (2.67.00.27) does not use 100% of my cpu, or better both of my HT cpus. i already read some post about this fact and i found a way to increase cpu usage.

just after the encoding has started i switch off one cpu (task manager) and imideatly on angain. now the cpu usage is above 95%

without doing anything my cpu usage is always >93%

test:
encoding normal settings: 8,02 min ca. x2,44
encoding switch off one cpu and on again 7,45 min x 2,56

ok, its not such a big speed increase, but it always turns up cpu usage and speed....... ?!

Hi newbie21,

I had the same board like you. It was only about 51% CPU usage. Then I changed to the ASUS 4P800. With this board it works like it should work. 99% CPU usage and double speed. I encode now a movie with 2h length in 30 mins full resolution.

It might be the bios on your board, but there isn't a new on on the msi page.

With P4, 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB, 1GB 400DDR dual channel memory, cce speed between 2.8 & 3.1 (dependent upon source). This is using a gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard, which has an Intel 875P chipset.

With P4, 2.8GHz 800MHz FSB, 1GB 400DDR dual channel memory, cce speed between 2.4 & 2.5 (dependent upon source). This is using a MSI motherboard, which has an Intel 875PE chipset.

I am only getting 61% of usage on each CPU. newbie21, did you do anything to get up to the 93% usage you get before you use the on-off-on trick? I would be happy with 93%. My encode speeds DVD>DVD are about 3.0 with 2.5 and 3.2 with 2.67....that's not bad, but I'm always looking for more :D

3.89 w/HT @ 2 x 2.8ghz XEON 533

(I know this is faster than my other speed prior, but ever since I enabled HT, I'm going a lot faster. Guess it's odd though because I never used to experience a HT bonus). In a few weeks I'll post how 2 x 3.6GHZ & 1000mhz performs.
