tmpg dvd author wont accept .mpa file

I just encoded an avi file with cce Mpeg2 for dvd) . The .mpv imports no problem .but it will not accept the .mpa . Do I need to mux them toghter or change the .mpa to a different ext . Or is there another solution ??

rename mpa to mp2.
