Hi,
I make capture files with an ATI AIW 128 pro, and since there is usually dropped frames, I reencode (with TMPGEnc) the files to make them fully VCD compliant without having to lose synchronisation.

I've upgraded recently to the latest version of TMPGEnc Plus(2.521.58.169) and since then I'm getting the reencoded files are out of sync.
After unsuccessfully altering many encoding options, I reinstalled an old version of TMPGEnc (2.58.44.152) and tryed it on the same files: sync is excellent.

Is there a problem with the latest versions of TMPGEnc, or am I missing something ?

Thanks
Jeepy

If I understand correctly, you are using the ATI to capture mpeg-1(VCD).

You might want to adjust the filter priority in the "Environmental Setting".

Since you are using the plus version, give the CRI greater priority over Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder. For example: if Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder is 1 them make CRI 2.

However, if CRI is already higher, then move Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder above it.

This may work.

I gave a higher priority to the "Microsoft MPEG1 Decoder" plugin over the "CRI Sofdec MPEG Decoder": it worked, my files are back in sync.

I tried also inverting their priorities, it didn't keep sync.
Maybe it differs from system to system, or the CRI doesn't achieve a good sync for files such as captured streams...

Thanks for the tip.
