avi to dvd subtitle problem

hi,

I would like to create dvd using an avi file. So far, from various tutorials, I am able to create the video and audio files correctly but I can't seems to get the subtitle to work correctly.

I tried following the tutorial in this link :

But it still doesn't work.

I still end up with a dvd that doesn't have any subtitle. Can anyone help?
