Hi-

My question is, if i have a WinTV-NEXUS-S (http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/products/data_nexus.html) DVB-S PCI card and am a paying subscriber to Sky (http://www.sky.com/skycom/home/) digital satellite TV channels, can i put my card into the CI port, decrypt my paid for channels - in the United Kingdom, and record MPEG-2 streams ? For example from Sky One.

If anyone has the DVB card and has tried this or knows anything about it, please post before i rush out to the store and spend £££

Hi Ac3Dc3

i'm interested in that as well but from what i have dug around and found out so far is....good luck !!

But i genuinely hope you find a way and let us all know. So far i have come up blank. Some one suggested a dream box can do it , but if you look at the dream box sites and threads on those sites , its heavy stuff......

Good luck and keep us informed of your progress.....enquiring minds want to know

Regards

Mark

No. Sky doesn't provide a CI module, so you are locked on Sky's proprietary hardware.

@Herske: thanks, so this is just the dead end of a dead thread. i guess ill have to stick to capturing DVB-t  .

@zamarky1: yeah i saw some of those threads, but it seemed a little complicated, and i wasnt sure if all the posters were working with the same idea that you have to pay for sky, or maybe i was reading something else... anyway i wanted a clean cut solution, but as Herske has said, this is not possible - rupert murdock is an obsessive monopolist..

thanks for clearing things up!
