i have an error when i want to import a M2V in scenarist:
Error : Number of fields (34) in GOP(# 1042) or between sequence_header_code should be equal or smaller than 30.
anybody has an idea???
thanks
Since Scenarist is quoting "30 fields or less", I presume you are attempting to import your .m2v into a PAL project. The DVD spec dictates that PAL MPEG2 streams shall have a GOP (Group Of Pictures)length of no more than 15 frames (18 for NTSC). This equates to a limit of 30 fields (15 frames, each comprising two fields, if the material is interlaced) for PAL, and a limit of 36 fields (18 frames, each comprising two fields, if the material is interlaced) for NTSC. In short, you appear to have encoded your MPEG2 stream with an out of spec GOP length. You will need to re-encode and ensure that your GOP length does not exceed 15 frames/30fields - e.g. IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB, where I = Intra, P = Predicted, & B = BiDirectional.

Bit off-topic but recently I had an issue with an original m2v stream. During muxing Scenarist failed and said the m2v had too high a bitrate at a certain point. But that was garbage, the original had 2 extra 448 kbit AC3 streams.
I used DVDMaestro instead and it didn't complain...

If, by "original", you mean it is a file derived from a commercial disk (and thus encoded professionally and verified prior to replication), then make sure you are not trying to import an NTSC stream into a PAL project.

Thanks Arky, I missed those threads when I searched, please tranfer to me your holy powers of search :p
Unfortunately however, from BV: "Nom. bitrate: 9800000 Bit/Sec"
Unless of course it's just a particular GOP/frame/whatever that is stamped with a > 9800000 bitrate (if that's possible).
But this second theory goes out the window because the same problem occurred with a restream re-written stream (which I used because I wanted to change the timecode to 00:00:00:00, damn subtitles).
No matter, it's in the past :)
