I read sometime ago people saying that 2.50 encoded better than 2.66 or 2.67...
Is this the case or are there different settings in .66/67 that influence the final result?
My guess is that using D2sroba with dvd2dvd gives the newer versions of CCE the edge...
What's your opinion?

Whoops! you are about to be in violation of the the forum rules. Take a look at the cce faq sticky (question 7) and the forum rules (rule 12).
Basically it comes down to what is best is what looks best to you. Some people use cce 2.5 cause that all they have used in the past and know it best. Some people like the new option interface and look of higher versions. Some programs only work with certain versions of cce so people use just those.
Yes there are many options in cce (all versions) that will influence how the final output will look. Alot of these options are dependent on the specifications of the video input so its hard to come up with a list of "best" settings. Check out the cce guide to see what these various options do.
Last of all, try the different versions and options and see for yourself what you like best. Simply use the same small video clip for your testing purposes. It shouldn't take too long and you may learn some things about cce that you didn't know before (and maybe be able to help others with).
Just have fun and good luck in your search for "the best"
