View Full Version : Creating a Kill Bill Vol. 1 uncut R2 DVD?
Hi there,
I have the german (=international) Kill Bill Vol.1 DVD and the uncut Video and Audio (german and english) streams of the japanese version. I want to create a new DVD with the german menu, navigation etc. but with the uncut version of the film itself. Question: Is that possible without actually reauthoring the whole DVD from scratch? Is there any program or combination of programs that is able to replace certain audio and videostreams in vob files and also editing some chapter entry points but leave the rest intact?
Any suggestions welcome!

I have done this, although it did take considerable time (im in US).
if you have the uncut video and audio, mux them all together with ifoedit or comparable tool. For the chapter points, you need to generate a chapter point list of I frames using virtualdub to identify the cell end points from the german video with the i frame cell end points in the jap video. This is a manual step. to do this:
1. Open german movie in remake.
2. open jap version in virtual dub.
scan through jap version to find i frame corresponding with start point of each cell in german version (this will make chapter navigation and replacement work).
3. edit chapter points list (you can generate one from either movie in ifoedit for format) to correspond to german cell points.
4. remux with all audio and video desired.
Then using DVD-remake (http://www.dimadsoft.com/products.php) you will replace the movie cell by cell.
1. with german dvd open in remake
2. right click each cell and hit replace, then click load to read in your .ifo of your recently muxed movie
3. choose equivalent cell from muxed movie and replace.
4. repeat for every cell.
Now - the hard part :)
you have to manually go through and reauthor the buttons of the audio and subtitles so they match the actual files.. more on this if you want it.
yes you have to buy remake, its $30, and its worth it. No i dont know of (without reauthoring from scratch) any other way to do this, and trus tme i tried. Yes i can verify it is 100% doable this way.
if you want more details on end just ask
DVD Remake seems exatly what I am looking for. I'll give it a try, thanks.

i don't think this will work, because the german disc is pal and the uncut one should be ntsc imho.
i think the only way do this, is to get the german audio (there is an already edited out there) to the right framerate, cut some english parts to it so that it fits. then reauthor everything back together.
you can also add german subs, but this is a lot of work...
i almost finished with it, but then i had to delete the intermediat files due to space problems :D

hmm didnt consider the pal issue
yeah best bet is either to slow down the pal audio from 25fps to 23.970fps or to resample it, and then use pure ntsc (as most euro systems can handle it).
You might be setting yourself up for more work then you want though.
Good luck, its fun regardless, and buy another hard drive, space should never be an issue!!

Something else to consider even with the PAL audio converted to ntsc is the fact that the 2 running times will still not match being Japanese version is actually longer being the uncut version. There are inserted shots during the anime sequence and house of blue leaves scene.
