I have a pioneer DVD player.

I author my DVDs with TMPEG DVD authorer, and all of my DVDs show up cropped on my dvd player, but they are fine on all my computers.

Has anyone else had this problem?

It's the result of overscan. It isn't you player that does it, it's your TV. Almost all TVs have some overscan, so they will all crop the picture to some extent. Playback on a PC doesn't suffer from overscan because the DVD plays back in a window.

You need to take overscan into account when you author the DVD, or even earlier - when you're filming.

so do professional DVD authorors take this into account?

Does this apply only to my DVDs, or to professional DVDs also?

I mean, do the movie DVDs that I buy get overscanned also?

Thanks

Okay, I read some more on "overscanning"

So how about a pretend TV test avs?

I could do like so:
-------------------------------------
LoadPlugin("MPEG2Dec3dg.dll")
avisource("home_video_01.avs")
crop(14,8,676,464)
BicubicResize(720,480)
-------------------------------------

and this would make a pretend setup like my TV, with overscanning/resizing and everything, right?

Is my crop accurate for typical overscanning?
Is it really 14 pixels on right/left, and 8 on top/bottom?

Thank you very much,
