I was converting my Carl Segan's Cosmos series on DVD to AVI and noticed choppy video (not audio) during certain horizontal motion scenes. For example, when Carl is walking forward and the camera is following him, there is a bush on his side that's moving backwards. I see a lot of choppyness on the bush. It doesn't happen in all the scene with horizontal motion and it's not too bad but I'd like to figure out why it's happening. In the AutoGK log output it looked like the video type was 'hybrid'. I tried using Dr. Divx and converted same episode to Divx AVI and the choppyness isn't there.

I'm using AutoGK 1.19 and my player is a standalone Philips DVP642. Please help me as I would like to use XviD instead of DivX because to me XviD looks a lot better. Also, let me know if there are any log files I can post.

Thanks.

Sounds like it could be a problem with interlacing.
I think you have to say what kind of DVD you're using aswell, if it's PAL R2 or NTSC R1 or something else.
