Hi people! (excuse my English :P)

I've been using GKnot recently and I've got a few questions to ask about GKnot:

-What is the "files" option for? Does it set GKnot to act like if in the final CD size were X files of XXXX Kb and re-adjust the bitrate to fit eg 687,67 MB if I have a 12,33 MB additional file? Or is there another purpose?

-Is there any way to set chapters in a video? I usually encode using DivX511 and mp3@96kbps, and I'd like to know if there's any method -inside GKnot, obviously, with no other external program help- to set chapters as in OGM format. I don't like using OGM 'cause I plan playing divx on desktop player.

-Is the "open... .d2v" the only way to re-open the preview window, if I closed it?

-Did not found a way to set higher % of volume, is there no option? What if a DVD has itself very low volume? Must I encode audio to mp3 separately and raise volume individually? Can Gknot do this?

Thanks!

Hi, and excuse my english!
I hope is right:

- No, its right: the "files" option is used when you want to include extra files in your cd's, i.e. subtitles *.sub *.idx.... and so on. In this way the bitrate is re-adjust to fit in your filesize. All this is explained in the Doom9 guide for GK.

- I am not sure, but with GK you can only use the program "chapter extractor" from the main directory of gk, and save chapters as files.
When you play the final avi, if the player support this (pheraps bsplayer o mpclassic), you will have chapters.

- I think is the only way.

- Try to use the audio settings in the doom9 guide.

Good work!

You need to gain the audio during transcoding to increase the volume. This is not recommended however, as scaling the discrete values of a digital waveform distorts it. Also, DVDs tend to be quiet as a cinematic effect more than a post production error.
