multipass setting is now ignored

Im ecoding a vhs capture with cce from an avi to mpeg2 . It seems no matter how many passes I instruct cce v 2.66 to do it only does 1 I set it according to the guide I found here. I remember the first couple of times I tried multipass it would lock up at 90percent completion of the first pass but I think that was because I was using a defective capture . Anyway can someone advise on what may be going on? Thanks

I thought that it was doing only one pass in 2.66. In cce 2.5 it shows how many passes but in 2.66 it looks like it is only doing one pass but actually doing the requested number. Try doing an encode with one pass and another with 3 passes and see how long the whole process takes for each.

If you look right above the progress line, it should say something like pass x of x.
