Currently German and English are selectable (main menu: "Sprachen" / "Languages"). Get it here (Mpeg2Schnitt06i.zip):

What is a Schnitt and what does the program do?

I can't read the website as it is in German.

Thank you.

The search on "mpeg2schnitt" shows up with 11 threads in this very forum ;)
But you're right, I should have explained what it is, so here we go (in brief):

After capturing a DVB transmission you have an MPEG-2 transport stream on your hard disc, which is either in PVA or MPEG file format. Usually these captures contain errors, which can be corrected via PVAstrumento or (which is what I prefer) ProjectX. In the correction process you demux to elementary video and audio streams.

Here's where Mpeg2Schnitt kicks in: It allows for multiple sub-GOP cuts without reencoding, is fast, and the audio is cut together with the video. In the end all you need is to author and burn.

Trying out Mpeg2Schnitt with a mpeg file captured with InterVideo WinDVR3 but the file is not recognized by the program.

The File is generic MPEG2 4000 kb/sec 720x576 25 fps and audio MGEP1 Layer II 44.1 kHz 224 kb/sec.

What am I doing wrong

Had a looksee at the new 0.6i dual language version, the main menus are available in english, but quite a few of the sub menu's are not. It is still easy enough to muddle through it. The english translation in 0.6g is better.

I could not see much discernable difference between the two versions, any one else see anything new, or "must have"?

@RustyNails:
Did you run ProjectX or PVAstrumento over your captured file before trying to cut with Mpeg2Schnitt? At least you need to demux the program stream to elementary streams, i.e. separate video and audio files (.mpv/.m2v + .mp2/.mpa).

@Pyscrow:
Which submenus have not been translated? The language support was added by the author Martin Dienert; I can contact him to add what's missing. I translated the first english version, but at that time Mpeg2Schnitt didn't have built-in language support, so I translated hard coded in the source and recompiled the program.

The main change for 0.6i is the language support, but there have been several bug fixes from 0.6g to 0.6h, and a few functional additions, too, so I recommend to upgrade.

BB, just off the top of my head, when a new video is loaded, a popup appears with the first line ***** filter is still in German(?)

And when saving a selected section using the cut button the window tittle is in german. From memory just little things like that, as I said you can pretty much muddle through.

Also if you can contact the author, english users have to agree to the licence agreement in german, (You can not select english until after installed) I guessed what the window was (licence agreement) and which button to push! Nitpicking, but there.
