My problems started when I tried to back-up my Matrix dvd. I used DVDshrink to put it onto my hard drive, then i then wrote it onto a dvd - disc. The make of disk were Infiniti 4times disc's, using Nero 6 express that ran of the dvdshrink. I watched about half an hour of the back-up when it started to stutter and then lock up. My first thoughts were that it was the dvd player but when I tried it on another player it still locked up and also it wouldnt skip chapters very well. I then tried to burn another one of but this time I used a + disc which worked spot on. Why did my writer not write very well in - format when the box that it came in says it will write in both formats at 4 times. This is baffling me can anyone help.

Liteon 8 times +
4 times -

Welcome to the forum:

Using these links, you can check the compatibility of your burner and standalone with specific brands of memory.

Player/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers)
Burner/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters)

Even though your burner is rated dual-format, some burners and players will choke up on certain brands of media. The burner link will probably come in the handiest for you in this case, but hey, it won't hurt to have access to the other one, too. :)
