There are great guides by Doom9 to start with : Here (http://www.doom9.org/divx-encoding.htm).

And as always found later versions are better..( Mpeg4 is smaller in size than mpeg2)

Hi Winxp,

im new to encoding myself, I use virtualdub v 1.45 its a good program I usually get a file around 700mb using divx 5.05 codec, Dr divx is also a good proggy it has a much frendlier front end (wizard based) but is a lil slower than vdub hope this helps.

The most user-friendly program to DivX encoding would have to be AutoGK. You can always use Gordian Knot, but it is more involved and a little more complex than AutoGK. Both can be found on this forum as well :D

AutoGK requires that you have all VOB files under the same directory

Use DVDDecrypter in ifo mode to perform that

www.dvddecrypter.com
Also available in Doom9's download section.

It is used to decrypt and copy encrypted dvd files to hard disk. :)

If are not sure how to use AutoGK, check the help file associated with it.

VirtualDubMod supports VOB input. Get VDM from here:

Ok thx heaps for that works now:) HEHE ok my last question I hope:( ok for the Video Compression should i chose DivX® 5.1.1 Codec (DIVX)? I guess hey? Thx heaps I really appreciate it

EDIT: just tried to encode video works but cant hear any Audio why is that? Check here (http://members.iinet.net.au/~volcom/untitled1.JPG) :(

Yes, if you are going to encode in DivX, then you have to choose DivX® 5.1.1 Codec and Configure it to your needs.

Btw, didn't you use DVD Decrypter to decrypt all the VOB files in the DVD, use AutoGK to encode to DivX? That method is automated and you do not need to go through much trouble. :)

Hi-

just tried to encode video works but cant hear any Audio why is that?

You probably are using the AC3, and you probably need the AC3 Filter (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ac3filter_0_70b.exe).

It's unclear to me whether or not you're actually using AutoGK. But if you are, then you might try reading the Guide (http://len0xmirror1.serveftp.net/~len0x/tutorial/AutoGK.html).
