View Full Version : XviD oversizing or undersizing with GK

I've tried doing some dvd2xvid stuff and so far it's only been either undersized or oversized :(

All the settings looks correct in GK (0.28) and XviD (1.0-RC4)
I've got the latest version of AviSynth installed also (2.5.4)

Here's what I tried to do:

10min vob into a 140mb avi container.
With settings: 512x288 (16:9) 25fps (PAL)
and vbr-mp3 using the r3mix method.

Result:
test1.avi 253mb with 3346 kb/s (audio not included)
test2.avi 64,4mb with 848 kb/s (audio not included)

The difference between these two tests is that I unchecked
"re-calculate bitrate if needed" on test2.

What Am I doing wrong?
Also, I'm wondering where "compressablity stats files" are located.

Thanks for any replies =)

Have you made the compressibility check? Have you choosed the mp3 file for bitrate calculation?

Are all of the settings the same in both passes?

stats file is saved to the directory that you have choosed from the codec settings. It's the button next to the box where you choose what kind of passes you use.

I've had some same kind of problems when the root for stats file is different for 1th and 2nd pass.

Yes and what? do you mean included the mp3 mbs in the calculation? then yes.

Yes.

it says "\video.pass" on both, this works when I'm using other tools. So it should be right =)

Are you using the 0.28.8 version of GordianKnot? The new Xvids (1.0-rcX) did not work properly with GordianKnot as the format for the Xvid settings in the regsitry had changed, this has been updated in v0.28.8 though.
