What is the best DV capture card from video camera to notebooks ( in terms of picture quality ) ..I will work with Pinnacle studio 8

is it in the form of a PCMCIA type 2 card with firewire ?

with the limited brands, I seem to favour Taiwan's Mercury brand ( a motherboard maker) over China's syba.com

Well, I'd prefer onboard firewire, as it's free :)
Regarding picture quality, there's no difference between different cards, because the video is transferred in a digital manner.

onboard firewire is built into your computer - hence the name "onboard"

1) any Feedback if there are any error issues on the above enclosure or a EZSTORE speedzter enclosure

2) MUST THE firwire PCMC IA Card that is connected to this enclosure be oxford chip as well ? any idea if Syba.com or Mercury has less errors

WOULD all the 3 PCMCIA firwire cards be good enough to input DV camera into notebook apart from hooking up to firewire enclosure ?

Threads merged, because there was no reason to open a new thread.

In response to your question no. 2:
Firewire, also known as IEEE 1394, is a standard which does not require a specific chip, chipset, or manufacturer. You need to be careful about the connectors, though, there are 4-pin and 6-pin connectors.

Thanks , actually the only one I could get hold in my country with Oxford is either

1)
http://www.macpower.com.tw/products/opticall/jewelbox/jb_400plus

2) .EZSTORE speedzter enclosure . a proprietary assembled brand with Oxford ,
*** 3) ARE there relaibity issues with the drive 1 ) ?..I thought of buying drive 1

4) for PCMCIA firewire ..2 choices between syba.com ( a taiwanese brand that appears more popular) and a mercury brand ( a taiwanese that makes motherboard as well but apparantly is no good ? )

a) which PCMCIA would you buy
b) are there issues with having a syba PCMCIA combo firewire + USB 2.0 card for note book ( Only use that with DVD writer on external casing or say DV video camera)
