If I want to rip a DVD perfectly, which includes everything on the dvd, can I just get DVD Decrypter to rip it to an ISO and then burn it on to a dual layer dvd when it comes out? I just realize doom9 posted a link today about backing up a dvd perfectly, but I don't think it should be that complicated. Check out this link: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/scenaid.htm . So which way is the correct way to perfectly back up a DVD title? Thx

the guide you are referring to is using the 'big 3' (aka DoItFast4U, DoCCE4U & ReAuthorist) method to reduce the size of a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 using cinema craft encoder to re-encode the video.
as your question is in regards to DVD-9 > DVD-9 (and not DVD-9 > DVD-5) then your method of ripping the DVD to an .iso image via DVd Decrypter should give you a 'perfect copy' (albeitly one with no copy protection, and depending on your settings, no PUOPs)

What's PUOPS?

iirc it stands for 'prohibited user operations'
and is basically 'user restrictions' in the ifos that prevent you from switching off subs although they are not hard coded, or prevent you from fast forwarding to the menu to skip the intros etc...

If I decide to burn the iso to a dual layer dvd one day, can I use Nero to burn the iso that I created with DVD Decrypter?

Yeah, but you could also just use ISO Write mode in DVD Decrypter.

But DVD Decrypter doesn't support dual layer burners yet right?

Try re-reading the changelog for the past couple of versions ;)

In 'theory' the code is there.

I say 'theory' because unlike the big companies (Ahead, Roxio etc) I dont get given test samples! I've just read what little documentation there is around and done my best.

The drives themselves will always be supported. There are no 'hardware support' updates for DVD Decrypter. It's just the special way double layer discs are burnt that may or may not work.

You can bet your life the second a double layer drive is available I'll have one on order.
