View Full Version : Need guides in codec setting:RV10,VP6.2,XviD1.0 RC4,DivX 5.1.1 and H.264

I plan to manage a codec comparison between these codec.
And will post the result here.
I won't use any machine-caculated result then.(such as PSNR or SSIM)
Instead,I will used snapshot pisture,the pictures will compress with JPEG2000 lossless codec(a plugin for ACDsee can handle this job).
I will capture the picture by MPC built-in function.

But this moment I need some guide in best codec setting.Both in encoding and decoding for each codec.

what plugin are you using? I cannot seem to find a jp2 plugin for acdsee anywhere :\

Years ago,I notice the LuraTech Wavelet format codec can handle this job.They release a plugin for ACDSee.

check the comparison doom9 did for xvid, vp 6.2 and divx settings/decoders. copy them. for rv10 i think you should use autorv10 (anyone want to correct that?) and no idea about h264

But the clip I'd like to use are a little special:music video.
And perhaps it need a special encoding setting compare to common movie clip.

Please add to comparision MPEG4 ASP (XviD&DivX - QPEL OFF, GMC OFF)
