Will encoding an interlaced 4x3 capture to an AR of 16x9 cause interlacing problems?
This is my situation:
I have captured a widescreen source (digital tv) at 704x576 @ 25fps (interlaced) and "stretched" to utilize the full area of the capture (there are no bars top and bottom of the capture). If I encode with a 4x3 AR - playback is fine (but looks stretched obviously!), at 16x9 I can see a cyclic ghosting/interlacing effect. Can I encode like this without deinterlacing?

[edit] OK I may have found the problem - had upper field first checked in CCE ;)
