Folks,

OK, I have a home movie DVD of a band. The home movie was authored with a menu when I got it. I have been working on using the native audio as a base synch track for a superior audio source. I have made the audio sound the way I like, and maintained the original length of the audio by using the native as the synch track.
Now, can I put the audio back with the video stream and still use the same menu? Or do I have to reauthor? If so, is there free- or share-ware that will work? Is there any way to make use of the old menu style?

THanks,
Jim

although you have not stated whether you have demuxed the 'movie' .vob files or not, i will assume you havent.

to demux the .vob file you can use DVD Decrypter in ifo mode from the original disc, or
Vobedit, or
Rejig, or even
DoItFast4U

once you have the demuxed .m2v video file, and the .ac3/.wav/.pcm audio file, you can simply replace the existing audio file with your new audio file (for the sake of consistency i would rename them the same - although this may not be necessary), then use:
Ifoedit (although IIRC there can be issues with NTSC), or
DVD Lab (free 30 day trial), or
Rejig ?!??!? (sorry never tried), or
any other DVD authoring software that accepts elementary streams, and re-mux your video/audio.

then copy this .vob file to a new folder with your existing menu vobs, and ifo/bup files.

i suggest you then open this new compilation in Ifoedit and hit 'get vts sectors' and test in the in built dvd player.

hope this helps (and makes sense)
cheers
