Is there a way to tell autogk to encode just a certain section of a vob file? If not is there plans to implement this in future releases?

If not i plan to try editing the vobs with another program but am i correct in assuming that autogk will not accept the modified vobs?

Hi and welcome to the forum-

No way to tell it to encode a part of the movie. Not to be implemented, as far as I know.

In DVDDecrypter, you can rip just a chapter, if that helps. I don't know if AutoGK will accept a cut vob, but I don't see why it wouldn't. And you can also make a custon .d2v for AutoGK, with just the part you want. I don't see why that wouldn't work either. Run the Preview to have it make the .d2v, and then make your own (using the "[" and "]" buttons in DVD2AVI) and make sure it has the same name as the AutoGK generated one.

len0x, please set me straight if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, that doesnt seem to work. I changed the d2v file but the output avi still was the entire thing. Normally chapters is enough but im doing southpark episodes and each chapter is an episode complete with a stupid intro on every one from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I really want to be able to remove that part.

Hi-

Can you just cut out the intro after the encoding is finished? Are the intros always the same length/size, so you can allow for them when deciding on the final file size?

Did you do the .d2v thing correctly? When you run the Preview, AutoGK creates that gk_temp folder within the main movie folder. And inside of that is MOVIENAME_PREVIEW.d2v. That one was the one I proposed to replace with your custom made one after the Preview was complete. The one you make should be smaller in size than the one that AutoGK makes.

However, if AutoGK goes ahead and makes another one when it starts the encoding, then my method won't work. Unfortunately, I can't test it right now, as I'm doing some encoding of my own, but maybe you can confirm that. I'll try later on.

And as a fallback, you can try and feed it a vob that has had the intro cut out. You can slice the intros out pretty easily using Chopper XP. (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/chopperxp.zip)

I tried changing the d2v file and it worked for the preview.. showed the new section, but autogk still encoded the entire vob so that didnt work.

Tried cutting with chopper and it worked like a charm. Autogk accepted the modified file and no problems.

thanks manono and great program lenox.
