Hi
In my VDubMod the mpeg-4 low-motion codec isn't there in the Compression window. I have DivX 5.11 and XviD 1.0 in my machine.
What can I do to remedy this ?
Secondly, is there any filter for VDubMod to accept and process ac3 audio into vbr mp3 ?
Thanks and regards.

In contrast, I guess 'ukb007' instead will want to install the "DivX ;-) 3.11 alpha" codec, which appears as "DivX ;-) MPEG-4 Low-Motion" for FourCC "div3", and as "DivX ;-) MPEG-4 Fast-Motion" for FourCC "div4".

In general, an AC3 ACM codec (decompressor only) exists. But I wouldn't recommend using it, because it is not configurable. Instead, better demultiplex the AC3 audio stream, vonvert it using BeSweet or HeadAC3he, and multiplex the resulting MP3 file after you finished encoding the silent video only.
If you are careful and watch possible A/V delays, the result will even be in sync. Tools like GordianKnot will support SBC encoding with Nandub and audio conversion (not VBR, though) or multiplexing (if the MP3 is ready before you start the video conversion - then select the file instead of a bitrate).
Did you ever count how many GordianKnot guides you can find at the doom9 website? :sly:

While updating my AutoGK to the latest v 1.16b, I had to uninstall Koepi's earlier codec issue, and install Hola! (the latest RC-4). At the end of the installation it offered to Decode all supported FourCCs (DivX, DX50, MP4V), and, since the offer seemed reasonable, I accepted.
My VDubMod Compression window currently reads:
(Uncompressed RGB)
Cinepac Codec by Radius
DivX (R) 5.1.1 Codec
Indeo (R) video 5.04
Intel Indeo(R) Video R3.2
Microsoft H.261 Video Codec
Microsoft H.263 Video Codec
Microsoft RLE
Microsoft Video 1
VDOnet VDOWave
XviD MPEG-4 Codec
En passant, can I make an observation (not criticism) here about VDubMod, one of the most important and oft-used softwares in the world ? In the FAQ section of VDubModHelp there is the answer to the question why VBR mp3 is bad in AVIs in the form of a conversation between belgabor and Cyrius. While the conversation is interesting, I am sure the answer could have been given in the form of a concise prose in tune with the rest of the document.:)

I think the long and short of what you wrote is for me to install the DivX 3.11 alpha codec. Okay, I'll certainly try that, but I can tell you: I had never installed this 3.11 before, yet I had the MPEG-4 Low- and Fast-motion codecs in my VDubMod Compression window. I landed into this mess because of a format, and I am now having to do all this from scratch.
Regards.

try the bigfix provided by divx.com

The only codec pack I had used was that came with GK 0.28.7. Does that contain the 3.11 alpha ? Probably not.

Well, I'm always open to suggestions. What is it that you would like to be able to configure?

Did you make it? If so: At least "thank you" for a nice basis.
But as long as it is not half as configurable as Azid or AC3Filter (downmix mode: stereo/DPL/DPL2; Dynamic Range Control; channel downmix factors: C=>L/R, LFE=>L/R, S*=>L/R), I will prefer demuxing, external conversion, and re-muxing.
How nice could be an ACM codec which is just a kind of interface to the AZID.DLL! Didn't ever anyone think of that, except me?! :p

Yes, I made one and Valex made one at almost the same time. See this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61119).
After that thread, Valex contacted me via email and we had a nice discussion about his ACM codec. His goal was to iron out the bugs and make it as configurable as AC3Filter, but apparently "real life" intervened and I'm not sure what ever happened to that project.
I based my codec on liba52, BTW. I'm not too familiar with azid, but it sounds interesting. I'll check it out sometime. ;)

It is able to decode 6 channels in CoolEdit? So I probably may have had installed Valex' codec (I'm not at home right now). Will tell you later...
