Thank u can u tell me where to download it? BTW ur work on mfToon was great. I haven't tested it yet but I saw the samples and it was really good! BTW can u give a good filter setting 4 this? Like what u did w/ mfToon. I'm really not good at making filter combos!

Would any tell me how to use this filter
The script was
Loadplugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3.dll")
Import("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\UnSmooth-v0.1.avs")
MPEG2Source("C:\ffx-2\concert.d2v",idct=5)
UnSmooth(params="2,3,3,mode=2,scenechange=10")
I tried importing but I had problems w/ like error such as:
I don't know what "smoothedwparams" means!
I really am new to this avs import script thing!

Question by Soulhunter
But, how can I make you script work with other smoothers n' parameters ?
Example: Temporalsoften(2,3,3,mode=2,scenechange=10)
Answer by mf
To use temporalsoften as smoother (using Soulhunter's parameters):
UnSmooth(smoother="Temporalsoften", params="2,3,3,mode=2,scenechange=10")
To use simple blur as smoother (resulting effect is unsharp mask sharpening):
UnSmooth(smoother="Blur", params="1.0")
That should pretty much explain it. Strings need to be wrapped in Chr(34)s instead of quotes, because of AVISynth's undocumented inability to use TEX-Style quotes.
Example:
UnSmooth(smoother="Subtitle", params=Chr(34)+"This will give a funky effect"+Chr(34)+", font_color=$FF0000")
As you can see the Chr() and strings are chained together using math operators.

hmm. to ask a dumb question... why enhance CG? all you'll do is introduce ringing artifacts, and if there's blocking in the source, those'll get bigger.
i love encoding CG because it's completely noise-free (save for the q noise the original encode introduced) so i don't have to touch it - any filtering will be either removing detail or amplifying noise, rather than actually enhancing the picture - the 3d artists and compositors already enhanced it when it was rendered.
of course, i haven't seen your source, and it's possible the authors did something dumb to it, like a vertical blur to make it shimmer less on a teev, or encoding without enough bits to fit more soundtracks on, or of course ye olde bad telecine (don't have to worry about that in PAL land, we just get crappy transcoded sound)

Gee Mug Funky!!! I'm not the smartest person in the world when it comes to Mpeg-4 or filters! It's just when I try to encode it. I just find the output a bit flat okey the output can't seem to make it just like the original. I know also that it's compress and it's bound to lose quality! So I ask people if there's a way. If u don't have anything useful to say don't post ur not helping!BTW I find the filter very useful with a combination of Unsmooth & vague denoiser the quality seemed to enchance again not an expert w/ these things bcoz I have life!!! I don't stare at the computers all day make other people's life miserable!!!
I didn't hear from people like Soul or MF say it's stupid or rediculous & these people are what I respect bcoz their good @ what their doing! If ur so great why don't u show me something that ur worth respecting! Intelligence doesn't mean that u know everything, it's realizing that u don't know everything!!! Thank U Soulhunter & MF!!!

ummm.... okay.
thanks for that equally useful post :)
i was simply pointing out that if time is of the essence, then you probably wont need to filter at all. although things like mftoon, fluxsmooth, mipsmooth, vaguedenoiser, IIP, et. al. can make visual quality better, they are not much help on a really clean source (CG) and so they can be foregone without much hassle.
i was not trying to undermine you or imply you were stupid or any of those things. and although i spend a bit too much time in front of the computer, i still go out
i certainly don't go out of my way to make personal insinuations or insults against fellow forum members, and do my best to address everyone on an equal level. it seems i have insulted you by this attitude and i apologise, but i'm not going to address you in any different manner. it's something you'll have to live with.

Relax! We are all trying to help. What he says is actually very useful, although it may not be applicable to your source. Some people have filteritus (as Neuron2 puts it). They tend to use filters just because others to (just look at kvcd.net to see many examples), while it's not always necessary. But, if unsmooth or other sharpen plugins (I suggest you try also the standard sharpen plugins, mf's scripts are usually a bit slow) give you reasonable results. Go for it!
