I have windows XP pro and while setting up a LAN I noticed that the shut down menu has changed.
I used to click on the start, then shutdown and 3 icons would come on saying "Stand by - Shutdown - restart" when I do this now however a dropdown menu appears insted of the 3 icons.

Anyone know how to get it to revert back to the 3 icons as I'm at a loss? it's not really a problem I just hate not knowing.

Thanks

Go to the Start menu, go to Settings, select Taskbar and Start Menu. Click on the Start Menu tab and select Classic Start menu.

Note - this will switch your start menu to the old style, which includes the buttons for shutdown. You cannot do one without effecting everything. I prefer Classic in any case. The "new" XP theme and look really sucks. Looks like a Speak-n-Spell toy.

I think this happens when, Windows' Fast User Switching Service got disabled...Try re-enabling. [Go- > Rt click My Computer ->Mange ->Services -> "Fast User Switching"->Set To Automatic]

Cheers, tried both of the them and they worked the menu is back to the buttons again.
Don't you just hate it though when something little but annoying like that happens?
