I just tried to backup the new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (NTSC) with the latest versions of DVD Decrypter and Shrink. They both run into problems decrypting this DVD. I have never had this problem before, is there some new encryption technique that needs to be addressed?

This is a ripping issue. IMO, DVD Decrypter is way better in ripping than with DVD Shrink and ripping is it's main job. So if DVD Decrypter can't do the job, what makes DVD Shrink ripping do any better. I, for one, do not have this DVD yet so I can't analyze it like I did for The Simpsons (Region 1) Season 3.

I'll send a PM to LIGHTNING UK! to look into your thread and the other I replied last night.

I've ripped it fine both with DVD Decrypter and Shrink. You must have a scratched, dirty or damaged disc. Are you receiving a "cyclical redundancy error"?

Read the sticky "Ripping Q&A (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=9)" at the top of the decrypting forum.

OK, here's the sitch. I ripped it to an iso with dvd decrypter. Everything seemed to be fine. But when I try to open the mounted iso with shrink, it analyzes up to the start of the movie and then I get this error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "E:\"
Invalid access to memory location.

I then ripped it using File Mode. Again, everything seemed to be fine. But when I try to open it using "Open Files" with shrink, it analyzes up to the start of the movie and then I get this error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error - exception occurred

Invalid access to memory location. Is "E:\" an internal or external HDD? Possibly needs defragging or something's wrong with it like maybe DVD Shrink is encountering a bad block.

E is the Daemon virtual DVD drive.

It isn't the drive, because it happens exactly the same way on two different hard drives.

It seems to be occurring in the analysis phase right at the ratings. I wonder if this problem is similar (although you were at least able to analyze it) to the problem you had with the "How To Deal" DVD???
