I've recently installed a Pioneer DVD RW DVR-107D drive in my Dell Precision workstation. I put this drive in as a slave to the existing Samsung CDRW/DVD on the secondary IDE channel. Since its been installed though, more often than not when I put a CD in the samsung drive, the machine blue screens and I get the following info:

A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU'VE SEEN THIS STOP ERROR SCREEN, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. IF THIS SCREEN APPEARS AGAIN, FOLLOW THESE STEPS: CHECK TO MAKE SURE ANY NEW HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE IS PROPERLY INSTALLED. IF THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION, ASK YOUR HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER FOR ANY WINDOWS UPDATES YOU MIGHT NEED

IF PROBLEMS CONTINUE, DISABLE OR REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE. DISABLE BIOS MEMORY OPTIONS SUCH AS CACHING OR SHADOWING. IF YOU NEED TO USE SAFE MODE TO REMOVE OR DISABLE COMPONENTS, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, PRESS F8 TO SELECT ADVANCED START UP OPTIONS AND THEN SELECT SAFE MODE.

I looked in the BIOS, but couldn't find any mention of 'memory caching' or 'shadowing', so I'm at a loss as to what to do to fix this.

I'd appreciate any ideas anyone might have. Thanks in advance.

The dreaded BSOD! (blue screen of death) I recently installed Outpost Pro firewall and would always get the same blue screen every other time I booted up. Some people over at their forum suggested it was due to P4 HT incompatibility. In your case, one thing you could try it to go to the Pioneer website and download the latest driver and see if that helps (most likely microsoft installs its own). If that doesn't work you could consider swapping around the drives, making the pioneer the master and the samsung the slave. And if then that doesn't work, try just putting the Pioneer drive alone on the ide cable and see what happens.
