I've been using DVD2SVCD for AVI to SVCD encoding for a long time, using CCE 2.5 sp. I just got a DVD burner so I wanted to burn a DVD I got from a friend. The problem was the size of it (way over 4.7 GB). So I tried using DVD2SVCD to rip it,aiming to get a dvd that will fit a 4.7 GB DVDR-. The problem was that during encoding the MPV file exceeded the 4 GB limitation of my FAT 32 system, and therefore aborted the encoding. Is there a way to make 7 GB DVD fit a 4.7 one? will it work only with NTFS?

But the answer to your question is convert your file system to NTFS. No other way with DVD2SVCD, unless you want to end up with an unfilled media setting 4000 - safety_threshold as media size.

since as you should know by now, you are not supposed to ask for help on backing up movies you don't own!Not so in Norway. Currently, I can legally create backups of DVDs and music CDs that I either borrow from a "close" friend (can you believe it!), the library, or rent from a video store - as long as it is strictly for private and non-profit usage (however, not computer programs).

This is naturally all going to change with the EU directive "Infosoc". Denmark implemented it in December last year, and sooner than later it will come here too.

I understand your comment, but had to refute it because some newcomers also think their local law applies here, and it does not. No law applies here, only the forum rules and directives.

Sorry, it was really a comment/info, although not well spelled out. The forum rules should be followed when posting here, of course.
