xvid avi -> svcd questions, ar, subs, ect..

1. if my avi pixels are 1:1, and the svcd res is 480x768 (i think), how do i calculate the correct resizing & adding borders procedure, i mean, what ar is 480x768 when streched (should i just use 4:3?)

2. in this specific case i have subs in that vobsub bitmap format, is there an easy way to convert them to svcd specs ? (or do i need some svcd authoring app..., which one?)

3. svcd mpeg2 aspect flag - will this work on a new yamaha dvd player or not, or should i just ignore that? , and btw the default tv will be 16:9, if that matters?

1.SVCD is 480x576 (PAL). FitCD will give you correct resizing and borders values.
2. Subresync can save the vobsub bmps in submux (Winsubmux) format. You need Winsubmux to multiplex the subs with mpg.
