Hi, iīm using dvd2svcd to make a movie backup of the Lord of Rings 1. Everything went fine until Scenarist went to action. In the window message in the tab Import i received the following warning,

"Warning This Video [ G:\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv ] has different duration.
Info Validateing Track (Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL-t)
Info Finish Importing"

But the process continue without problems, when the build tab displays this information

"nfo Creating VTS<VTS_1> Title
Info DVD Files created
Info
Info Creating disc image
Info Reading file list
Error Total sector size<2295311> is larger than DVD disc capacity<2294912>

Error CheckFileSystem error returned.
Error Disc image could not be created"

and offcourse that dvd2svcd says that:

Creating Sonic Scenarist Script file
Executing Sonic Scenarist
Scenarist Failed!
Layout Failed (See Message Window)

I noticed that in the dvd image folder i have the vobs files backuped, witch i can play in the windvd. I think, and for what i see the movie is without problems(image and sound is ok), and i can burn it with nero.

What i ask is, if is that possible, that movie has no problems or i have do the whole process again? Can i burn the vob files with nero( i know that i can burn vob files with nero if i have the entire dvd structure)?
What may be wrong in Scenarist that he didnīt created the dvd image?
And the most important what should i do?

Hi!

The problem is written clearly: DVD image is too large to fit to a disc. A disc capacity is 4 700 000 000 bytes. A DVD cannot be overburned. So, if you end up, eg. with 4 700 000 001 bytes you cannot burn to the disc. You can try with nero, it will say 'There is not enough free space on the disc!'. Just have a look at your vob, and you will see it!

Possible solutions:
1.) Try to cut the end of video and/or audio to make image smaller. (I would recommend it, when the vob is slightly oversized) Eg. yesterday I had the same problem, oversized image but only with 500 Kb. I have cut the last 20 sec of the audio, so the resulted image become smaller.

2.) Begin from the start. Read threads on this forum, about how to control the result size.

You should choose 1. becouse your disc image is 4 700 817 152 bytes (if I calculate well :D ) and to eliminate the difference only max 40 sec of audio should be cut from the end. If you choose this, you spared the time of encoding everything again. If loosing this 40 sec in audio is unacceptable, you should choose solution 2.

Hi, Manngo

First of all thanks for the reply.
I think the problem is not that.
I already burn the vob files with nero without problems. The files are not oversized. I tried the new backup dvd with my standalone player and it works well.
Known i canīt discover why the scenarist donīt produced the dvd images, when the vob files and the dvd structure are in good conditions (if i can burn it and play it on my standalone dvd). If anybody knowns what happenned i will be apreciate.

Could You please check the size of your vob? in bytes?

MacPhisto

The vob size in bytes is 4.700.190.720 bytes and the size on disk is 4.700.200.960 bytes.
I know that is bigger than 4 700 000 000 bytes, but why can i burn it without problems with nero? And if it is bigger than 4 700 000 000 bytes i donīt understand why, because in dvd2dvd i defined the cd size to 4480, or this is bug of dvd2vd?

I donīt know very well where is the part in log file that calculates the video br, so i post the log file since the dvd2avi process.

Hi,

Try setting the CD Size to 4465 for +R, or 4470 for -R. Very occasionally, you do get an oversize with 4480!

Bob

Ok i will try to put the settings like you said, and see what happens. Then when i have the results i will post here. But what i think is strange is the fact that the vob file is oversized but i can burn it with nero without problems. If vob file is really oversized i think it never should be possible burn it with nero (note, nero never shows that the flies i put in the video ts folder are oversized).

Thanks
