I started with the guide on SVCD to AVI conversion here
http://www.doom9.org/svcd2divx.htm
and all was well. I created a .d2v file and an audio track which I converted to .mp3. In DVD2AVI the video image was 480x480 as I believe it should be for a SVCD. The problem is that when I convert to .avi using Gordian Knot I get a 300 x 450 image in the resulting .avi movie (I think that is the right size, at least the ratio is correct, anyway the images is stretched to be much taller than it is wide not 1:1 as it should be).

The only thing weird under the resolution tab and probably the problem is that he W-modul is 32 and the H- module is 16. I don’t know what these settings are about.

Can someone help a noob and tell me why I’m getting a tall image out of this conversion.

Thanks

Hi-

SVCDs are either 4:3 or 16:9, like DVDs. Most are 4:3. You have it set for PAL 1:1. If it's 480x480, then it's NTSC, so change to NTSC 4:3, do the cropping and resizing, and then over the .d2v video, go View->Resized, and the people should look "normal".

Leave the 32/16 alone.

Thanks,

I can't say that I followed your advice, but I think you called it correctly. I just created a new job and reloaded the .d2v and used the default settings. Which were as you noted.

Works great,
