View Full Version : Custom XviD matrix to use in NeroDigital?

Hi,
is there a way to use the custom XviD matrixes in NeroDigital (Recode 2)? There are 8x8 matrixes for inter and intra frames. So how I must transfer the values from the 128 bytes XviD matrix?
Thanx in advance,
Morpheus

seems you have to type in each value by hand in recode2 :(

Hmm, but what half of the 128 bytes I use for intra and what for inter frames? I don't know too much about this matrix-stuff yet. So any further information is welcome ;-)

Yes, I like this idea.
Bearing in mind that ND is such a fast encoder it might be well worth the effort.
Soulhunter has been playing around with a matrix editor to create some custom matrices over on the XviD section of the forum: - http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72564

LigH is working on that Matrix Editor ;)

Probably a good idea... If I can find out where these values are stored, I may add this to the import/export features. Currently my editor is able to exchange custom matrices between XviD / ffvfw (via files), TMPGEnc (via INI section), and CCE SP Trial 2.62+ (via Registry).

Hi,
I found the default matrix in following places: (latest Nero Recode version 2.0.0.17)
NeNDGui.dll Offset 0004 58E0
NeNDVid.ax Offset 0005 9DF0
NeVideo.ax Offset 0007 7D50
I searched for the bytes 08 11 12 13 (hex mode).
When you save a profile with custom matrix the values a stored anywhere but I didn't found them yet...

Great stuff Morpheus,
I generated a few encodes with Recode2 using Soulhunters matrices.
Have you noticed that there is quite a difference in the output file size between H.263 and MPEG encodes?

Currently I did no tests at all.
How you transfered the Soulhunters matrices into the files? Maybe you could send me your files (via email). I'd like to test them also.
I still try to find out where the profiles of recode are stored. I found the name of the profile in the registry, but nothing more.

How you transfered the Soulhunters matrices into the files? I did it manually. It was a right ball ache!
And I'll generate some small encodes and post a link to them.

The settings for NeroDigital are in Settings.xml file in folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ahead\NeroDigital\
With latest versions of encoder pack ( > 1.1.6.0 ) this will change to C:\Documents and Settings\curren user\Application Data\Ahead\NeroDigital\Settings.xml

ahh... well done! I did only a binary search for the matrix values. Sometimes it's so easy... ;-)
So thank you for the place of the matrices. I think LigH could now extend his matrix editor for ND?

The complicated thing about this is: If a user would like to add new matrices, I would have to copy a whole preset, this is a bit heavy; overwriting only the matrices of one preset would be possible, probably...

Have you done some encodes? My test was not very successful. Can you post some results?

I have been meaning to generate and post some shorter 'test' encodes but have not got round to doing so yet...
Sorry about that!

I've heard rumours (via PM) that Nero Digital / Recode2 will soon provide import/export for Custom Quant Matrix files. Let's press our thumbs that it will be soon...
