Difference with CCe-Rejig-Quenc in DVD-RB ??

Ok i'm no purist so what's the difference between these software when ripping? Any quality change ? I know CCe does multipasses but do the others do it to ?

This is pretty much a "what's best" thread, which is against forum rules.

But basically, ReJig is for speed and for when only needing to compress a little, CCE is for maximum quality and QuEnc is for people that can't afford CCE, want a free solution, and those who dont mind testing something in development.

Best to leave it there, experiment with all of them to see which suits your needs.

1. ReJig is a transcoder that does within-the-compressed-domain transcoding through requantization (I think the new version Nic is working does more). It does a very good job if there isn't a lot of compression. It is by far the fastest choice. There is no reason to do multiple passes on a transcoder because the bit allocation was already done on the original material.

2. QuEnc is a product that Nic has put together based on the FFMPEG engine. FFMEG is an open development for MPEG encoding so there is a lot of rapid improvements being made. The advantage is that it is free and does a decent job of encoding from scratch with an AVS file as input. It supports two pass encoding.

3. CCE is a commercial product. It is (in my opinion) the highest quality general purpose MPEG encoder on the market today. I've compared it to pretty much everything else -- and it doesn't get any better than CCE. It used to be incredibly expensive. But not long ago the company started offering a "Basic" version for $59. It does multiple pass encoding. It is very, very fast for an MPEG encoder -- but fast is a relative term... and it still takes quite a while.

Sorry if my post seemed to look for a what's best, but i was refering to the choices available in DVD-RB, and what were there propreties. Sincee i am experiencing problems when using CCe (Error 380, even if i use all the steps one by one)as my choice method, i wanted to know what were the others.

QuEnc gives very good quality comparable to CCE and it is going to be better and better, you can trust me. Use it if you have problems with CCE.
