Tell everyone how great matroska is!

I first heard of the matroska container about six months ago. I started to use it myself about three months ago. I must say that matroska really is a great container! Im able to mux multible subtitle, and soundstreams in to this container with ease. I have also started to enter chapters that allows you to navigate in the movie.

Hower, the matroska format don´t seem to be as widely used as i think it should. Maybe it just needs a publicity boost? how about some banners at well known divx / xvid sites?

thanks for you efforts spreading the word about matroska, but well basically someone could say doom9 is one of the forums most closely related to matroska

so if people find out about matroska its maybe because someone from doom9 told them about it (or to be more precise: because of chris ;) )

I've been releasing Matroska movies for 6 months already. At first I got tons of complaint emails from end users, everyone kept saying it was very inconvient to install different codecs for audio subtitles mkv splitter etc... or that their favorite media player keeps crashing. But around November when the very first Matroska codec pack was released I haven't heard a single complaint, since then I've been getting tons of fan letters praising my high quality releases. Thank you Matroska Team, for all the work you guys have done.

We clearly need someone to make publicity about Matroska everywhere.

I hope everybody from the mod team will confirm that i took most of the criticism serious and changed my posting behaviour significantly.

Of course, i have to admit that this was also possible because of the very good acceptance of the project during the last months, leading me to the statement that matroska has meanwhile passed the 'critical mass' limit, and got the necessary public awareness to be able to grow by itself, so there is no real need for dedicated 'marketing work' to make that happen anymore.

Everybody in the team is well aware that it will take a long time until matroska will get the same public awareness than Ogg Vorbis, but IMO we are on a very good way to get there one day. TCME and the Windows port of Gstreamer, if we ( = jcsston :) ) will be able to make that happen one day, will hopefully help in this respect, as well as the long awaited ( and now highly probable ) MPC SV 7.5 version for use with video in matroska ....

We clearly need someone to make publicity about Matroska everywhere.I hope you mean excluding this place.. our stance on over-promoting is well known. Fortunately we've had little to complain about with respect to that for the past few months.
