i'm gonna use a pc as stand-alone-player-replacement
one thing i wanna have is a remote
can someone recommend good remotes with matching recievers (seriel, parallel, usb?)?
also software compatibility is important
and it shouldn't be too expensive :)

ATI has a nice and cheap (about 20 euro's) solution which you can plug in to your usb:

Sunwave has got really, really cool remotes, but you're gonna pay for em (60 - 100 euro's):

A friend of mine has got the ATI remote, nice thingy. With the proper software you can control most software like winamp, zoomplayer etc.

I got an IR receiver for COM port from Zapway (http://www.zapway.de/e_index1.htm) and paid 17 Euro (~20 US-$ ?) for it.
It works like a charm with all those one-for-all and almost any infrared remote control; you just have to configure your remote.
On the other hand, 17 EUR are a lot of money; it should be possible to build a receiver on your own, just google around a bit for howtos.
