View Full Version : Burn SubTitles into .avi

I have an .avi file encoded as an XviD movie. I also have .sub files for the subtitles (also in .srt as I was converting sub titles using VobSub trying to get this to work).

I have a Liteon DVD player that plays Divx and Xvid and I would like to burn the subtitles into the .avi file so I can read them from the DVD player.

Any suggestions? I cannot rip .vob files as I only have the XviD .avi file.

Thanks.

Your DVD player cannot read .srt subtitles or .sub (MicroDVD) ?

I included .avi file, .sub file and .idx file on a data disk and my player plays the video and audio just fine but no sub titles. I cannot access the subtitles menu when watching .avi files on my player.

Is this odd?

I can't get the DivX player to play subtites either.

Windows media player displays subtitles but the subs and the picture are upside down!?! This only happens in Windows Media Player and it only started after I created the .srt files.

I am really concerned with playing the film on the Liteon player connected to my televion.

Thanks for any help.

I think that your player cannot display .sub file and .idx file (binary format). Maybe you must to convert that subtitles into .sub (MicroDVD or Sub Viewer) or SubRip. Read your player specifications.
For that conversions you can use VobSub or SubRip, and any conversions between text subtitles produced by these programs with Subtitle Workshop.

Thanks,

It appears that my DVD / DivX player only sees .srt subtitle files.
